The Youth Parish Academy is
open to all middle school and high school age students. The Youth
Parish Academy is a series of classes studying the Old Testament
sequentially. The first series of classes, which was held in May and
June of 2010, covered the first 11 chapters of the book of Genesis,
from Creation through the Tower of Babel.
The second series of classes began on September 11, 2011 and will
cover the remaining chapters of Genesis, chapters 12 through 50.
Both the student and the student's parents are asked to sign a
commitment card stating their serious commitment to the class and that the student will:
attend all classes, arrive on time,
complete all reading and activities,
complete memorization of scripture as assigned
recite key events in the Old Testament narrative.
The purpose of the Academy
is to provide a comprehensive Christian Education in the parish
setting. The academy will provide an overview of the narrative of the
people of God with the goal that the youth have an understanding of
how the events of the bible connect to one another.
