Unction:
From the Latin unguere ("to anoint"). Unction is the process of anointing someone with consecrated oil for religious purposes. As one of the minor sacraments, Episcopalians use the word to refer to anointing the sick for the purpose of making them well (James 5:14).
Unction, Extreme:
The anointing of oil of those who are close to death. Sometimes known as 'Last Rites', when the option of Holy Eucharist is used.
