Oxford Movement:
The movement in Anglicanism which started in 1833 at Oxford University recalling the Church of England to its Catholic heritage. It is sometimes called the Catholic Revival. It resulted in the reestablishment of religious orders of monks and nuns, in the revival of Catholic worship and sacraments, in renewed missionary endeavor, and in work among the poor. The leaders were John Henry Newman, Edward B. Pusey, Keble, Froude, and others.
