All Saints’ Fashion Show and Luncheon is a fellowship ministry
sponsored by All Saints' Thrift Store & More.
This is an annual event and there is fun for one and all.
Interestingly, the models in the Fashion Show wear clothes from the
Thrift Store. This demonstrates that much of the apparel available
at the Thrift Store is high quality. In fact, people of Lakeland
often donate expensive designer
clothes at the Thrift Store.
All
Saint's Thrift Store & More Fashion Shows started with a customer
asking for one. The first fashion show was at North Lakeland
Christian Women's Club, who have booked their fifth show this year.
Fashion shows have also been held for Greater Lakeland Women's
Club, Estates at Carpenters, district meetings of Women Realtors, Gapway Baptist Church, Lake Gibson Methodist Church, and Meet &
Greet. They receive ten percent of the
sales of
the merchandise for their organization. The models often buy what they
model for half price and get twenty percent off their accessories as
a ‘thank you’ for their participation.
With the fifth annual fashion show at All Saints’
in 2009,
there have been a total of twenty fashion shows. Funds earned go
into the store's sales and a tithe goes into All Saints' outreach ministries.
The parish Fashion Show & Luncheon at the church is
done to show the parishioners what their Thrift Store is doing in
the Lakeland community.
Fashion
shows are for public relations for All Saints’ and fellowship for the
volunteers, parishioners, and their friends.
It's
amazing how many customers come into the Thrift Store and say, "I
went to one of your Fashion Shows!” Most of the time they have
brought a friend or relative with them and most become repeat
customers.
